# Scheduled Tasks

Scheduled Tasks run a saved prompt at a chosen time while Syntheo is open.

A schedule will not run if the app is closed, the computer is asleep, or required access is unavailable.

## Choose a target

### Workspace

Use one workspace for a focused recurring task, such as:

- a weekly review of recent changes;
- refreshing a report;
- checking for stale generated content;
- a regular read-only project summary.

### Conductor

Use Conductor only when the schedule needs several workspaces or clearly separate tasks.

## Create a schedule

1. Open **Settings → Scheduled Tasks**.
2. Choose **New schedule**.
3. Enter a clear name.
4. Choose **Workspace** or **Conductor**.
5. Select the target workspace or workspaces.
6. Write the prompt.
7. Choose the schedule and local time.
8. Leave it enabled and save.

Use **Run now** before relying on a new schedule.

## Write a safe scheduled prompt

An unattended prompt should say what it may change and where it must stop.

Review changes from the last week for clear correctness issues. Do not edit,
install, commit, push, or contact external services. Report findings with a
severity, evidence, and next step. If there are no findings, say what you
reviewed.
```

For a task that may edit files:

```text
Check whether the generated report is stale. If it is, update only the report
folder and run its normal validator. Do not commit or push. Stop without editing
if new dependencies or account access are required.
```

## Before enabling a schedule

Check that:

- the selected workspace is correct;
- the provider and model are available;
- permissions will not leave the task waiting indefinitely;
- repeated runs are safe;
- the result clearly says whether the task succeeded;
- the schedule's time and timezone are correct.

Pause a schedule when it is no longer needed. Delete it only when you no longer need its setup.
