Command-line launcher

The syntheo command lets you create a Syntheo desktop task from a terminal or script.

Install the command#

1. Open Settings → About → Command Line.
2. Choose Install command.
3. Follow any PATH instruction shown by the app.
4. Restart the terminal if needed.

Start a task#

syntheo <workspace-path> "prompt"

Examples:

syntheo . "explain this project; do not edit" --action ask

syntheo ~/Projects/app "plan the settings update" \
  --action architect \
  --title "Settings update plan"

Options#

--action submit|ask|architect|debug
--title "Task title"
--virtual-edit
--no-focus

• Use --virtual-edit when you want changes kept separate for review.
• Use --no-focus when a background workflow should not bring Syntheo to the front.

Avoid common mistakes#

• Use an existing project directory.
• Put the prompt in quotes.
• Confirm the intended action before starting a task that may edit files.
• Use a harmless Ask task to test a new installation.
• For long instructions, store the details in the workspace and mention that file in the prompt.

The task still uses Syntheo's normal provider, workspace, permission, and review settings.
